About SaxBarn Music

SaxBarn Music is the culmination of decades of buying and selling instruments --- sometimes to play, sometimes to collect, sometimes to flip. But after all those years and hundreds of instruments bought and sold, I decided to take my business to the next level in 2024.

I come from a band director family in rural Pennsylvania and began playing instruments by the age of 8. I started with the saxophone (a Bundy II alto), and soon after added flute and clarinet by age 11. I bought my first vintage saxophone (a Holton Rudy Wiedoeft Model) around age 12, and that began my lifelong love for interesting and vintage instruments. Since then, I've spent many years and countless hours studying, playing, and teaching music, all the while adding many instruments to my own collection and relocating others. Today, I have 45+ saxophones, as well as countless flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, guitars & basses, and all sorts of musical goodies. I buy and sell instruments that I love myself! Though I'm primarily a woodwind player, my playing abilities span most of what you'd find in your average school band. And no matter whether you're looking for a flute or saxophone, or a trumpet or trombone, there are tons of great used instruments out there to fit every player's level and budget. You don't have to resort to shiny junk to get a deal on a quality student horn, and you don't have to spend a fortune to get yourself a nice pro one! From my years of buying and selling instruments, I know what's out there and what can be obtained, even with a small budget. And if you're thinking maybe you want to get into something vintage and/or out of the ordinary, then I can do that too!
